Like many chemotherapeutic agents, mechlorethamine has a range of side effects. Common side effects include nausea, vomiting, and bone marrow suppression, which can lead to decreased levels of blood cells and increase the risk of infections and bleeding. Other side effects may include hair loss, mouth sores, and gastrointestinal disturbances. More serious, albeit less common, side effects include secondary malignancies and severe allergic reactions.
