What Causes a Weakened Immune System in Cancer Patients?
Cancer itself and its treatments, such as chemotherapy and radiation therapy, can significantly weaken a patient's immune system. Cancerous cells can spread to the bone marrow, a critical site for immune cell production, thereby reducing the body's ability to produce white blood cells.
