A colposcopy is a diagnostic procedure that allows a physician to closely examine the cervix, vagina, and vulva for signs of disease. It is often recommended when a Pap test or HPV test shows abnormal results. During the procedure, a colposcope, which is a special magnifying device equipped with a light, is used to provide a clear view of the tissues.
