Mutect2 is an advanced variant caller used predominantly in cancer genomics. Developed by the Broad Institute, it is part of the Genome Analysis Toolkit (GATK). Mutect2 is designed to identify somatic mutations, which are DNA alterations acquired by a cell that can lead to cancer.
