Research is ongoing to improve the efficacy and reduce the toxicity of platinum-based therapies. Novel platinum compounds with improved pharmacokinetic properties and reduced side effects are in development. Additionally, combination therapies that include platinum-based drugs and targeted therapies or immunotherapies are being explored to enhance treatment outcomes. Personalized medicine approaches are also being investigated to tailor treatments based on individual patient profiles and tumor characteristics.
