Ferroptosis has been implicated in various aspects of cancer biology. Its role can be both beneficial and detrimental, depending on the context. On one hand, inducing ferroptosis can be a promising strategy to kill cancer cells that are resistant to other forms of cell death. On the other hand, resistance to ferroptosis is often observed in aggressive cancer types, where antioxidant mechanisms are upregulated to protect against ferroptotic cell death.
