What Role Does Chemical Oxidation Play in Cancer Therapy?
Many cancer therapies, including chemotherapy and radiation therapy, utilize ROS to induce cell death in cancer cells. By increasing ROS levels beyond a tolerable threshold, these treatments can selectively kill cancer cells while sparing normal cells. However, the development of resistance to these therapies can occur if cancer cells enhance their antioxidant defenses.
