What Types of Cancer May Require a Lumbar Puncture?
Certain types of cancer are more likely to require lumbar punctures. These include hematologic cancers like leukemia and lymphoma, which can spread to the CNS. Solid tumors such as breast cancer, lung cancer, and melanoma may also metastasize to the brain or spinal cord, necessitating a lumbar puncture for diagnosis or treatment.
