The most common cancer caused by HPV is cervical cancer. HPV is responsible for nearly all cases of cervical cancer. Besides cervical cancer, HPV can also cause anal cancer, oropharyngeal cancer (cancer in the back of the throat, including the base of the tongue and tonsils), and cancers of the vulva, vagina, and penis.
