ONJ is notably linked to cancer patients because it can be a side effect of bisphosphonates and denosumab. These medications are commonly prescribed to manage bone metastases and to reduce the risk of fractures. Unfortunately, while these drugs are effective at strengthening bones, they can also impair the jaw's ability to repair itself, leading to ONJ.
