High-throughput screening (HTS) is used to test thousands of potential drug compounds rapidly. HTS can identify promising candidates for further development. Once a potential drug is identified, it goes through various stages of testing, including in vitro (cell culture) and in vivo (animal models) experiments, before clinical trials in humans.
