Cancer cells often overexpress glucose transporters, allowing them to absorb more glucose from the bloodstream. Additionally, they can alter the microenvironment to facilitate the uptake of amino acids and lipids, crucial for building cellular components. This increased absorption is a hallmark of cancer metabolism, often referred to as the Warburg effect.
