How Do Helper T Cells Function in the Immune System?
Helper T cells are primarily responsible for recognizing antigens presented by antigen-presenting cells (APCs) such as macrophages and dendritic cells. Upon recognition, they become activated and proliferate, releasing cytokines that activate other immune cells, including cytotoxic T cells (CD8+), B cells, and macrophages. This coordinated response is vital for effective immunity.
