How is Perihilar Cancer Diagnosed?
Perihilar cancer diagnosis involves multiple steps. Initially, blood tests are conducted to check for elevated liver enzymes and bilirubin. Imaging studies such as
ultrasound
,
CT scan
, and
MRI
are used to visualize the tumor.
Endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography (ERCP)
and
percutaneous transhepatic cholangiography (PTC)
are specialized imaging techniques used to further detail the bile ducts. A biopsy may be performed to confirm the diagnosis.
