Systemic treatments are therapies that travel through the bloodstream to reach and affect cells all over the body. Unlike localized treatments such as surgery or radiation, systemic treatments target cancer cells wherever they may be. This makes them particularly useful for cancers that have spread (metastasized) beyond their point of origin.
