Given the potential side effects, researchers have been exploring alternatives to Cremophor EL for drug delivery. Some of these alternatives include lipid-based formulations, polymeric micelles, and nanoparticles. These newer delivery systems aim to reduce toxicity while maintaining or enhancing drug efficacy. For instance, nanoparticle albumin-bound (nab) paclitaxel is an alternative formulation that eliminates the need for Cremophor EL.
