What are the Current Challenges in Cancer Treatment?
One of the primary challenges in cancer treatment is the heterogeneity of the disease. Different types of cancer, and even different instances of the same type, can behave very differently. This makes it difficult to develop a one-size-fits-all treatment protocol. Additionally, many treatments such as chemotherapy and radiation therapy have significant side effects that can severely impact a patient's quality of life. Another challenge is the development of drug resistance, where cancer cells adapt to withstand the effects of treatment, rendering them ineffective over time.
