Preventing GVHD involves several strategies. One common approach is HLA matching, where the donor and recipient are carefully matched for human leukocyte antigens to reduce the risk of GVHD. Prophylactic administration of immunosuppressive drugs during and after the transplant can also help prevent the onset of GVHD. In some cases, the donor's T cells may be partially depleted to reduce the risk of GVHD while preserving the beneficial GVT effect.
