After the scan, patients can usually resume normal activities immediately. Drinking plenty of fluids helps to flush out the remaining radiotracer from the body. The images from the bone scan are analyzed by a radiologist, who will send a report to the patient's oncologist or primary care physician. Further tests or treatments may be recommended based on the findings.
