Enhancer of zeste homolog 2 (EZH2) is a histone methyltransferase that plays a critical role in gene silencing through the methylation of histone H3 at lysine 27 (H3K27). EZH2 is a component of the Polycomb Repressive Complex 2 (PRC2), which is essential for maintaining the transcriptional repression of various genes involved in cell cycle regulation, differentiation, and other cellular processes. Overexpression or mutations of EZH2 have been linked to the development and progression of various cancers.
