What Types of Cancer are Associated with Fumonisins?
Epidemiological studies have suggested a strong correlation between dietary fumonisin exposure and increased incidence of esophageal and liver cancers. Esophageal cancer is notably prevalent in regions where maize is a dietary staple, and fumonisin contamination is common. Additionally, animal studies have demonstrated the potential for fumonisins to induce hepatocellular carcinoma.
