How are Chemokines Linked to the Tumor Microenvironment?
The tumor microenvironment (TME) is a complex network of cancer cells, stromal cells, immune cells, and extracellular components. Chemokines are key players in shaping the TME. They regulate the recruitment and behavior of various stromal and immune cells. CCL5 and CCL22, for instance, can recruit regulatory T cells (Tregs) which suppress immune responses and aid in immune evasion by the tumor.
