How Do Mitochondrial Mutations Contribute to Cancer?
Mutations in mitochondrial DNA (mtDNA) can affect mitochondrial function and contribute to cancer progression. These mutations can lead to defects in the electron transport chain, resulting in increased production of reactive oxygen species (ROS).
