Cancer, particularly hematologic malignancies like leukemia and lymphoma, can severely disrupt normal hematopoiesis. These cancers originate in the bone marrow or lymphatic system and can lead to the overproduction of abnormal cells. This overproduction can crowd out normal cells, impairing the bone marrow's ability to produce healthy blood cells and leading to conditions such as anemia, thrombocytopenia, and neutropenia.
