What Types of Cancer are Associated with These Viruses?
Different viruses are associated with specific types of cancer:
HPV is most commonly associated with cervical cancer, but it is also linked to oropharyngeal, anal, and penile cancers. HBV and HCV are major causes of hepatocellular carcinoma (liver cancer). EBV is linked to nasopharyngeal carcinoma and certain types of lymphomas, including Burkitt lymphoma. HTLV-1 is associated with adult T-cell leukemia/lymphoma. KSHV is linked to Kaposi's sarcoma, a type of cancer that forms in the lining of blood and lymph vessels.
