Cytotoxin Associated Gene A (CagA) is a protein encoded by the cagA gene, which is part of the cag pathogenicity island in Helicobacter pylori. This gene is one of the main virulence factors of H. pylori, a bacterium that colonizes the human stomach and is linked to various gastrointestinal diseases including gastric cancer and peptic ulcers.
