Considering its involvement in both apoptosis and inflammation, TNFR1 has been studied as a potential biomarker for various cancers. Elevated levels of TNFR1 have been observed in the serum of patients with certain types of cancer, such as breast cancer and colorectal cancer. Thus, TNFR1 could serve as a diagnostic or prognostic marker, although more research is needed to establish its clinical utility.
